The National Communications Authority (NCA) in collaboration with the ministry of Communications and Technology(MCT), and the National Communications Institute will be hosting a competition as part of the annual celebration of girls in ICT day on April 2020 to empower and encourage girls and young women to embrace careers in the growing field of information and communications technology (“ICT”).
Who:
- Girls studying in high school form 1 up to from 3 in the 3 schools chosen to participate in the event
- Girls in university studying in ICT related subjects in one of the 3 universities chosen to participate in the event.
Competition Tasks:
- Discus the effect of COVID-19 on Somali society and in particular showcase a problem that has developed because of COVID-19 and produce a solution using ICT tools such as:
- Video
- Website
- App
- Discus the problems females face in Somalia society and apply ICT tools to solve that problem, your application must describe the problem you want to solve, how your solution will solve it and you must use ICT tools such as:
- Video
- Website
- App
- Describe how Somalia can achieve one of the UNITED NATIONS Sustainable Development Goals UN-SDGs, you must describe the sustainable goal, how it is affecting Somalia and how can Somalia start to solve this problem and achieve the sustainable goal, and you must utilize the following ICT tools:
- Video
- Website
- App

Each precipitant will be required to apply on the girls in ICT webpage and submit a filled application form before the deadline 10/04/2021 to qualify for the competition.
Terms and Conditions:
- Start date of application: 25/03/2021
- Due Date for Girls In ICT Day Competition Form submission: 10/04/2021.
- Participants must complete the Girls in ICT Day Competition Form by the deadline 10/04/2021
- There is a limited number of participants required, so selection will be based on how well your idea is applicable to Somalia’s environment.
- The GRILS IN ICT DAY team will work on choosing only 10-5 finalized.
- The chosen participant will be informed via email/phone, and are expected to produce a final product for submission a week before the event.
- At the day of the conference the special panel will choose the 3 winners.
- Selected candidates by a panel of judges will be given a prize.
